Obituary for Junior Lowell Farber

Junior Lowell Farber, 89, of LaGrange, IN died Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Farber was born on November 23, 1928 in Goshen, IN, to Lowell and Marvell (Plummer) Farber.

In 1946, he graduated from LaGrange High School and then went on to barber school. He spent 25 years as Farber the Barber in LaGrange, IN. He then began working for ANR pipeline where he worked for 19 years, retiring in 1992.

Junior was a member of LaGrange First United Methodist Church and sang for many years in the choir. He was also a member and president of the LaGrange Exchange Club, Chancellor Commander of the Order of Knights of Pythias, chairman of the March of Dimes, and was a charter member of the LaGrange County Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Farber had played in the men’s softball league for many years, was an avid bowler, hunter, golfer, and fisherman. He had coached and umpired the Lion’s Club Little League. A huge Chicago Cubs fan, he had to wait a long time to see a World Series Championship.

On September 3, 1950 at the LaGrange First United Methodist Church he married Mary E. Brineman; Mrs. Farber survives in LaGrange.

Also surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Mike Miller of Indianapolis, IN; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pam Farber of LaGrange, IN; four grandchildren, Derek Farber of LaGrange, IN, Amber and Jeremiah Jerdon of Wolcottville, IN, Daniel and Stacey Miller of Indianapolis, IN, and Lauren and Paul Grizzard of Greenfield, IN; and eight great-grandchildren, Emmalyn, Alyssa, and Harrison Farber, Taylor and Matthew Jerdon, Charlotte Miller, and Claire and Ryan Grizzard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Marvell Farber; and a brother, Bob Farber.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at the LaGrange First United Methodist Church, 209 W. Spring St., LaGrange, IN. Rev. Chris Lantz will officiate the service.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, IN.

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN.

Memorials may be made to either the LaGrange First United Methodist Choir or Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
