He worked at Commodore Homes in Syracuse, Ind. and the Kendallville Foundry.
Charles served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the LaGrange American Legion Post #215 and the Kendallville VFW Post #2749.
Charles was a lifetime resident of LaGrange County. He was born on January 20, 1928 to Homer R. and Lela (Fritz) Rasler.
On June 24, 1949 he married Hilda M. Garrison in Kendallville, Ind. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2008.
Surviving Charles are seven sons, Charles (Barbara) Rasler, Pat (Kelly) Rasler and Andy Rasler all of LaGrange, Gary (Candy) Rasler of Wolcottville, Ed Rasler and his companion, Cindy of Big Turkey Lake, Tim (Madeline) Rasler of Pretty Lake, John Rasler and his companion, Yolanda of Noble County, ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Barbara Stewart of Noble County, June Leas of Hamilton and Phyllis Phillips of Ashley.
His parents, a wife, two grandsons, Jeffrey and Robby Rasler, a sister and a brother, preceded Charles in death.
Graveside services will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Lake Bethel Cemetery, rural LaGrange, with the Chaplin James Piepenbrok officiating.
The Kendallville VFW Post #2749 will perform Military Rites.
There will be a Memorial Gathering at the Kendallville VFW Post #2749 for family and friends following the graveside services.
Memorials may be directed to the Stroh Fire Department or the Kendallville VFW Post #2749.
